BUILDING STRONG FOUNDATIONS FOR LEARNING

Cambridge Primary provides a strong educational foundation for students at the beginning of their school journey. Typically designed for learners aged 5 to 11, it forms the first stage of the Cambridge Pathway.

At AGI, the Primary years focus on developing knowledge, skills and understanding step by step. Students are encouraged to be curious, take an active role in their learning and gradually become more independent.

Each stage builds on the one before it, preparing students for continued learning and progression to Cambridge Lower Secondary.

A CLEAR AND PROGRESSIVE FRAMEWORK

The Cambridge Primary curriculum is organised around clear learning objectives that provide structure while allowing learning to develop progressively from one stage to the next.

Students build their knowledge and skills over time, revisiting ideas at increasing levels of depth and complexity. This helps create continuity in learning while giving teachers a clear understanding of what students are working towards.

The framework also supports the development of broader learning skills, encouraging students to communicate, reflect, explore ideas and become increasingly confident in their own learning.

A BROAD AND BALANCED EDUCATION

Cambridge Primary provides a broad curriculum that gives students opportunities to develop knowledge and skills across different areas of learning. Core subjects such as English, mathematics and science can be combined with subjects that develop creativity, expression and wider perspectives.

The curriculum is flexible, allowing schools to select and combine subjects to suit their context and students. Across the Primary years, learning becomes progressively more developed as students build on knowledge and skills from previous stages.

This broad foundation prepares students for the next stage of their education and continued progression through the Cambridge Pathway.

CONFIDENCE TO THINK, SPEAK AND EXPLORE

Learning in the Primary years is about more than finding the right answer. Students are encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, listen to others and explain their thinking.

Across subjects, students gradually develop the confidence to communicate what they know and engage with new ideas. As they progress through the Primary years, they become increasingly able to reflect on their learning, work with others and approach tasks with greater independence.

These skills support learning across the curriculum and provide an important foundation for the next stage of their education.

PROGRESS THAT BUILDS YEAR BY YEAR

Learning develops progressively throughout Cambridge Primary.

Each stage builds on previous learning, creating continuity throughout the Primary years and a clear foundation for the next step in the Cambridge Pathway.
