Building knowledge, understanding and skills
Cambridge Upper Secondary is typically for learners aged 14 to 16. At AG International, learners follow the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum during this stage of the Cambridge Pathway. Cambridge IGCSE offers a broad and balanced curriculum, designed to develop learners’ knowledge, understanding and skills across a wide range of subjects.
It builds on the foundations of Cambridge Lower Secondary and provides a strong foundation for further study. IGCSE qualifications are recognised globally and respected by universities and employers as a mark of academic preparation and intellectual rigour.
At AGI, IGCSE is not simply an examination stage, it is a formative period where knowledge, independence and character develop together.
A FLEXIBLE AND ENGAGING CURRICULUM
Cambridge IGCSE offers learners a broad and balanced curriculum, with a wide range of subjects and opportunities to make connections between them.
The curriculum develops knowledge, understanding and skills in subject content, while encouraging learners to apply what they know in both familiar and new situations. It also develops intellectual enquiry, flexibility and problem-solving skills.
This flexible approach allows learners with different abilities and interests to engage with their learning and build a strong foundation for further study.

ASSESSMENT AND PROGRESSION
Assessment is an important part of Cambridge IGCSE and takes place at the end of the course. Depending on the subject, learners may be assessed through written examinations, oral assessments, coursework and practical assessments. This allows learners to demonstrate their knowledge, understanding and skills in different ways.
Cambridge IGCSE assessment is designed to recognise achievement across a wide range of abilities. Learners receive grades for individual subjects, providing a clear indication of their performance and achievement.
Assessment is not only the conclusion of Cambridge Upper Secondary, but also an important step in a learner’s continued education. Cambridge IGCSE provides preparation for progression to the next stage of the Cambridge Pathway, including Cambridge Advanced and Cambridge International AS & A Level.
DEVELOPING SKILLS FOR FURTHER STUDY
Cambridge IGCSE develops learners’ knowledge and understanding alongside skills in creative thinking, enquiry and problem solving.
Learners are encouraged to apply their knowledge to new as well as familiar situations, make connections between subjects and develop the skills to become increasingly confident and independent in their learning. These skills provide a strong foundation for progression to further study.

A Calm and Focused Learning Environment
Academic progress requires structure.
- At AGI, IGCSE students benefit from:
- Clear classroom routines
- High behavioural expectations
- Strong pastoral support
- Consistent adult leadership
This balance between structure and care creates a stable environment in which students can focus and grow.
